General Information
Uvita is a small, sleepy town on the Pacific coast in southern Costa Rica, whose surroundings delight with rich flora, as well as the diversity of animals found here - sloths, scarlet macaws, toucans and monkeys on land, and humpback whales, dolphins and turtles in the water are just some of them. Tourists come here primarily for the biggest attraction - Parque Nacional Marino Ballena - to see humpback whales with their own eyes, migrating from California and Alaska and from Antarctica at different times of the year. It is here that you can dive in the depths of the ocean or walk along the "whale's tail", a sand formation connecting two beaches, which is formed during low tide. It is also a great place for anyone looking for a quiet vacation in the bosom of nature - the beaches here are mostly empty, and the region hides many waterfalls and natural pools, where you can relax after a hike to the water cascade. For those hungry for cultural experiences, the Envision festival takes place here at the turn of March and April, and participating in it can be a great way to end your stay in Costa Rica.
