4. asado and wine – you will try the specialties of Argentina
Do you like to eat and drink well? You've come to the right place. Argentines are true hedonists who start thinking about the next meal while they're still having dessert. The recipe for success? Lots of sweets, meat and red wine.
True Argentines start their day with a sweet croissant and strong coffee. It's better to leave some space in your stomach for something bigger. Dishes that don't contain meat don't count as a meal, just remember that beef is synonymous with meat here - sometimes when you order a dish without meat, you'll get chicken, for example. asado this is the most Argentine tradition, it is almost a cultural and social event that gathers a group of friends and family at a common table. It can be compared to a Polish barbecue, but here it takes place even several times a week. Just remember that dinner in Argentina only occasionally starts before 22 p.m., and asking for dinner before 00 p.m. will be considered insane. And what to choose in a restaurant? Instead of trying to remember dozens of names and types of meat, it is better to ask the waiter for advice - his prominent belly is a sign of great knowledge about the dishes served. You will forget about boring additions or salads: on your plate you will find a huge piece of meat prepared with the greatest reverence. The famous La Brigada serves steaks so soft and juicy that you use a spoon to cut them!
Each restaurant has its own master who is only responsible for preparing meat on grills called grill. There are special schools for training in this profession, the most elite courses last several years, and the best parrilleros are sought after by restaurants and adored by customers.
Ask for a bottle of red wine with the meat. Malbec or – even better – take a trip to one of the wineries in Mendoza or Salta. And if you still have room for dessert after all that, ask for caramel cookies and/ or fudge. Bon appétit!
5. You will meet amazing people and an interesting culture. In the land of tango and football
Argentina it's not just beautiful landscapes, colonial cities and exquisite cuisine. It's also wonderful and proud people, a rich and tragic history and a fascinating culture. A holiday in Argentina will also allow you to discover the less obvious treasures of the country. We can all certainly name a few famous Argentines. Everyone has probably heard of Maradona and Messi - regardless of the discipline, athletes from this country are among the world's top - literature lovers certainly know Luis Borges and Julio Cortazar, and since Francis has been the Pope, the country's inhabitants have started to joke that now even God is Argentine. Famous people who come from here also include the famous revolutionary - Che Guevara or the current Queen of the Netherlands, Maxime Zorreguieta. What connects all these people? What adjectives can be used to describe an ordinary resident of Buenos Aires or Mendoza?
They are temperamental, arrogant and conceited, often convinced of their superiority and always stick to their own opinion until the end. They are eager to point out the mistakes of others, although they hardly notice their own flaws. However, despite this, they are very friendly, relaxed and open. They treat their loved ones and new acquaintances warmly. This explosive mixture of temperament, Latin passion and big heart makes meetings with Argentines a real pleasure and a fantastic opportunity to get to know this country better. The nation itself is multicultural: for hundreds of years, the indigenous, local population has mixed with immigrants from the farthest corners of the world, who came here in search of happiness and a new life. However, regardless of their roots, they have many things in common: the entire nation is crazy about football - in particular, matches with Brazil, Uruguay and Chile cause the streets to die out, and entire families sit in front of the TV to support albicelestes. Argentines also have rich and beautiful interiors and romantic souls - after all, this is where the famous tango comes from, a dance and music famous all over the world, considered one of the most beautiful, romantic and intimate musical experiences.
A holiday in Argentina is a real feast for all the senses. Beautiful landscapes of the Patagonian provinces, seductive tango rhythms, exquisite cuisine and wines full of sun and fruit.
