Best Honeymoon Destinations in Asia: #2 Maldives
For a few dream days, live with your significant other in a luxurious cottage on the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. From the apartment with a glass floor, admire the multi-colored fish, sunbathe on the private terrace, feast on exotic fruits, dive in the clear water, immediately after waking up jump straight into the warm ocean and discover the easiest sport in the world - snorkeling! Here it is! Maldives!
In our first article about the best honeymoon destinations in Asia, we wrote about Thailand, which we consider unrivaled (click to read), where you can still find romantic corners, hidden from the hustle and bustle of civilization. This time we will take a look at another place that most of us automatically associate with a dream honeymoon trip – we are talking about the Maldives! An additional factor encouraging you to visit this country as soon as possible is the fact that the ongoing global warming does not bode well for the paradise atolls located at a very low altitude above sea level. So take advantage of it while you can and book flights to the Maldives!
You won't find such beautiful beaches and clear, azure ocean waters anywhere else in the world!
#2 Maldives
Beautiful islands with white sand and turquoise, crystal clear waters are what newlyweds like the most. It's hard to find a couple who wouldn't like to relax on one of the Maldivian atolls, with the attractions of a luxury hotel at hand and in an all-inclusive mode, which guarantees a total lack of worries and sweet laziness. Our only contraindication when it comes to a honeymoon trip to the Maldives is... boredom!
We don't know about you, but after a few days of lying on the beach we start to miss more demanding activities, which is why, in our opinion, the perfect combination is trip to the Maldives with a previous visit to Sri Lanka. We suggest driving around Ceylon on a jeep safari, spotting wild animals, enjoying spicy Sri Lankan delicacies and visiting beautiful temples. And then just relaxing on the warm sand of the Maldives!
For whom: for all young couples who dream of relaxation, relaxation and more relaxation, and at the same time feel like swimming in crystal clear waters, snorkeling, diving and boat trips. Maldives is an ideal destination for people who love to relax on the beach and in the water, admire the coral reef, walk along the coast, eat exotic fruits, and have before their eyes only the endless ocean, lush green palm trees and white powdery sand.
For how much: high prices due to the cost of staying in very good standard hotels with an all-inclusive option - 10 days of stay in the Maldives alone will cost from 10-11 thousand upwards (including flights and insurance), but for a similar price we recommend combining active travel in Sri Lanka with literally a few days of rest on one of the Maldivian atolls.
For how long: for us, four days of rest in the Maldives is enough, we recommend a combination of Sri Lanka and the Maldives - 7 days in Sri Lanka and 3-4 in the Maldives. When choosing only the atolls, a week's stay will be ideal, plus two days for flights and acclimatization on site.
How long does the flight take: for example from Prague via Dubai – about 9 hours + transfer time, if you are previously in Sri Lanka (and we recommend such a connection as a way to diversify your trip) the flight from Colombo takes less than 2 hours. For the flight to the Maldives with necessary transfers, you should count on about 12 hours.
Pristine beaches, green palm trees, the best aromatic curry in the world, azure water in the Maldives and sand like milky white flour.
Hotel standards: to choose from in color – hotels in maldives can satisfy the most demanding travelers. Since there are not many attractions on the islands themselves, the resorts guarantee an all-inclusive holiday, as well as impressive recreational and gastronomic facilities, including swimming pools, restaurants offering cuisine from all over the world, a water sports centre and many others. In addition to 4-5 star hotels, there is also the option of accommodation in the Maldives on the farms of local residents, e.g. in the capital - Male, which is worth recommending to travelers who like to get to know the destination of their trip "from the inside" and experience authentic, everyday life on the islands.
Only here:
- world-famous water houses! Of course, you can also find them in other parts of the world, but it is in the Maldives that they have become an iconic element of traveling, especially for two - nothing gives a shared journey such a romantic atmosphere as a bedroom with a glass floor under which multi-colored fish swim, and a private veranda from which you can jump straight into the shimmering turquoise water;
- excellent conditions for snorkeling in calm and clear waters, with access to a breathtaking coral reef. The Maldives is a great place for swimming, especially for people who do not consider themselves advanced swimmers and do not feel too confident in the water, but like to splash in it while sunbathing;
- hotel facilities and services designed especially for newlyweds, from magnificent apartments to additional attractions such as a romantic candlelight dinner on the beach. Imagine it – water washing over and over again your feet immersed in the fine sand, the sound of the ocean and a discreet waiter pouring champagne into your glasses. Nothing to add, nothing to subtract!
