During this period, you can also experience occasional rainfall, especially in the mountainous regions of the country. The center of the country, including the Rub' al Khali desert, is extremely dry and hot, with little variation in temperature throughout the year.

RAINY SEASON IN OMAN

Oman is generally a dry country and does not have a typical rainy season, as one would expect in a tropical location. However, the Dhofar region in southwest Oman experiences a type of monsoon season called khareef. This season lasts from late June to early September and brings cooler temperatures and abundant rainfall, especially in mountainous areas. In other regions of Oman, such as Muscat and the desert interior, rainfall is much less frequent. Occasional rains may occur in winter, from November to March, but these are generally rare and short-lived.

WHEN TO GO ON HOLIDAY TO OMAN?

The best time to travel to Oman is from November to March. During these months, temperatures are moderate, hovering around 20–30°C, making it ideal for sightseeing and outdoor activities. This is also the time when you can experience rare rainfall in some regions.

For those who want to experience the khareef phenomenon in the Dhofar region, the best time is from late June to early September. During this time, the landscapes are green and lush, and the temperatures are much lower than in the rest of the country.

However, if you prefer water activities like diving or snorkeling and don’t mind the higher temperatures, the summer months from April to October may be suitable. It’s worth remembering, however, that temperatures often exceed 40°C during this period, so appropriate preparation and precautions are necessary.

WHEN TO GO TO SALALAH?

Salalah is the second largest city in Oman and the capital of the southern Dhofar region. It is a place with a unique climate and landscapes compared to the rest of the country. Salalah is particularly famous for its monsoon season, called khareef, which lasts from June to September and brings abundant rainfall and lush vegetation.

In our opinion, if you want to spend your time on the beach and enjoying water activities, the best time to vacation in Salalah is from October to May.
