4.Paperwork

Changing the bride's surname carries certain obligations that are best taken care of as soon as possible, especially for newlyweds who plan to spend their honeymoon abroad. You must remember that after changing the personal data on your passport, it loses its validity after 60 days from the date of issuing the marriage certificate confirming the change of surname. In the case of people who are abroad, this period is 4 months. After the wedding, when the bride takes her husband's surname or a double surname while keeping her maiden name, new documents must be obtained.

We advise you, depending on the date of your departure, to wait with obtaining the documents or to do it as soon as possible. If you are starting your honeymoon a few days after the ceremony, the bride can safely travel with her old passport, provided she returns to Poland within 60 days of the change of surname. Are you planning to travel only after the wedding or have you chosen a fairly distant date? In that case, take the necessary steps to obtain the new documents immediately. This process takes at least two weeks.

Most often, airlines do not allow free name changes on the ticket, so an ill-considered purchase often ends with the need to pay for the flight again.
