A Photographic Journey Through the Heart of South Africa
Travel has this extraordinary power that allows us not only to see the world, but also to experience it with all our senses. Today we are taking you on an extraordinary journey in the footsteps of Tomek from Planet Escape, who decided to discover three unique countries in Africa: RPA, Lesotho and Eswatini. His account, rich in breathtaking photos, is not only a souvenir from the trip, but above all an inspiration and encouragement to set out to discover the world yourself.
During this unique expedition, Tomek immersed himself in the cultural and natural diversity of South Africa, visiting both the vibrant metropolis of Capetown, as well as remote landscapes full of wildlife. On his route he found Kruger Park full of wild animals, offering spectacular views – Cape of Good Hope, the legendary point where the Atlantic meets the Indian Ocean – Cape Agulhas, and the famous Boulders Beach, home to a colony of African penguins. Our friend also visited the majestic The Drakensberg Mountains, which constitute the natural border between South Africa and the Kingdom of Lesotho, and Panorama Trail i Garden Route, two of the most scenic routes in South Africa.
Among the many fascinating experiences he had during his journey across southern Africa, one in particular stands out – swimming with sharks. As a passionate lover of extreme adventures, he had long dreamed of coming face to face with these formidable sea creatures. This experience, taking place in safe cages immersed in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, allowed him to have a close encounter with sharks while ensuring complete safety.
After exciting adventures in South Africa, Tomek's journey moved to Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland. This small but charming kingdom, hidden between South Africa and Mozambique, enchanted him with its authenticity and rich culture. Fascinated by its unique traditions and wildlife, he explored Eswatini, strolling through local markets and admiring African crafts, and visiting traditional villages where he experienced the extraordinary hospitality of the Swazi people.
During his stay in Eswatini, Tomek traveled through nature reserves such as Malolotja Nature Reserve, full of picturesque landscapes, waterfalls, enchanting with rich flora and fauna. The highlight of his trip was the opportunity to observe wild animals such as zebras, antelopes and various species of birds. This is a real treat for every wildlife lover. Eswatini, although small, made a huge impression on him with its diversity and beauty.
Then our traveler went to Lesotho, called the “Kingdom in the Sky” due to its high location. Lesotho, completely surrounded by South Africa, is dominated by mountainous landscapes, making it an ideal place for lovers of trekking and outdoor adventures. Tomek visited Thaba Bosiu, a historical site that is important for the national identity of Lesotho. Fascinated by the history of the country, he also explored Semonkong, known for the impressive Maletsunyane Falls, one of the highest in southern Africa.
The stay in Lesotho was also an opportunity to experience traditional life in mountain villages, where time seems to pass more slowly and everyday life is deeply rooted in tradition. Horse riding along the picturesque mountain trails gave Tomek a unique perspective on the landscape and culture of this amazing place. Lesotho, with its friendly people and stunning views, was another chapter in his African adventure, full of impressions and unforgettable experiences.
Tomek's Planet Escape photo report from Africa is an extraordinary testimony of a journey of discovery through South Africa, Eswatini and Lesotho. Each photo is an example of the cultural diversity and natural beauty of Africa, from wildlife, through breathtaking landscapes, to warm encounters with its inhabitants. This collection of photographs not only brings us closer to the African reality, but also inspires our own adventures, emphasizing the value of traveling with openness and respect for the places and cultures visited.
